Description #
Bitsbox is a monthly coding subscription box that teaches kids how to program apps using simplified JavaScript. Children type real code on the Bitsbox platform to build games, simulations, and interactive projects. It’s designed for hands-on learning through printed cards and digital coding.
History #
Bitsbox was founded in 2014 by former Google employees Scott Lininger and Aidan Chopra. It began as a Kickstarter campaign and quickly became popular for combining coding with physical, screen-free materials. It is now used by schools, parents, and homeschoolers across the world.
Hello World Code #
In Bitsbox, kids use JavaScript-like syntax simplified for learning. A “Hello, World!” app looks like:
("Hello, World!", 50, 100, 30, "blue");
This command displays a blue “Hello, World!” message at a position on the app canvas.
